How to Save Energy
In our last blog, we talked a bit about LED lights, why they are beneficial, what they do and why they’re primed to use in your work environment. LED lighting can lead to great energy savings, but it isn’t the only technology that can conserve energy at the office.
So what exactly can you do to conserve energy? How can you play your part in the pursuit of greater environmental sustainability, while still saving money on your electric bill?
Here are three ways to be more energy-efficient:
1) Close the Doors
When you’re running your heat, the insulation of the indoors helps to keep your system running efficiently and the house warm. Leaving the doors open not only lets out the warm air, but it also makes your HVAC unit run with fewer stops, running up your utility bill and energy consumption.
2) Turn Off The Lights
As simple as it may seem, turning off the lights on your way out of the building can be an incredibly beneficial thing to do, in terms of energy efficiency. Although you may think it’s simply one light, those lights add up, causing countless amounts of energy to go wasted.
3) Unplug
Are you leaving the office for the night? Consider unplugging any accessories or appliances that you don’t need. Unplugging not only reduces energy use and saves you money, but it also increases your electrical safety around the office.
